Family Care Center

Founded in 1988, Family Care Center of Catawba Valley, Inc. serves homeless families with dependent children through an emergency and residential program. We offer physical, emotional, social and educational services to assist families in the transition to becoming self-sufficient. The Center, founded on Christian principles, ministers to all persons without discrimination.

Our Environment

While enrolled in our programs, our guests must adhere to our program rules and meet certain expectations. As guests, they understand that their stay is conditional and they must follow all rules. The goal is for the family to become stable and able to survive independently. Every guest will be treated fairly with respect and grace.

Learn By Doing

Support is offered to each family through social work case management; assistance in finding employment; educational opportunity and life-skills workshops, tutoring and other activities for children. Families meet with our social worker each week and strive to move forward into permanent housing.

Our Vision

Our vision is to continually reduce the numbers of homeless families in our community with compassion, professionalism and efficiency. We envision a time when we will no longer have to turn families away, when every desperate family that comes to us can be given the opportunity to return to self sufficiency, and provide their children with a stable home.

A Word

From Our Director

Family Care Center was created in 1988 with Matthew 25 in mind. ‘I was a stranger and you welcomed me.’ and the center still operates the same today. Families of all kind are welcome. People become unhoused for many reasons, many times due to circumstances out of their control. Our goal at Family Care Center is to offer a supportive and professional staff; an abundance of community resources and ultimately, a safe and secure home. We are committed to seeing our guests succeed.
